Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
Who these terms apply to
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Told app and the Told website at told-app.com. By creating an account or using Told in any way, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Told.
What Told is
Told is a private place recommendation network. It lets you log restaurants, bars, hotels, and activities you have loved while travelling, and share them exclusively with friends you have connected with inside the app. Recommendations are never public.
Your account
You must be at least 13 years old to use Told. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that takes place under it.
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You may not create an account on behalf of another person or use an email address that is not yours.
Your content
You own the recommendations, notes, and photos you post on Told. By posting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and display it to your accepted friends within the app. We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for any purpose beyond operating the service.
You are responsible for the content you post. Do not post anything that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes the rights of any third party.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Told for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or another user's account
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the app
- Use automated means to scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the app
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at privacy@told-app.com. We will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe you have violated these terms, with or without notice. We will give you reasonable notice where we are legally able to.
Disclaimer of warranties
Told is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be available at all times, error-free, or that any particular feature will remain available. Place information sourced from Google Places may be inaccurate or out of date - always verify before relying on it.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Told and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the app before the changes take effect. Continued use of Told after that point constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
